RSVP Straws

We use straws in this house. Okay, I use straws in this house. For smoothies, hot chocolate & chocolate milk, rooibos tea, and what not (drink connoisseur.. always)..
I hate that cruddy disposable ones from fast food places crack and break, and most have a tacky stripe or two running down the side.

How beautiful are these.. and COMPLETELY reusable friendly!?
Did anyone out there KNOW that these even existed? Not to mention I bet they keep your drink nice and cool on the way up!

I want a set.
Thanks, Santa. (;

PS. I have those glasses, so I think it's fate.
(However, I don't recommend purchasing the glasses shown above.. we've broken more than half of them in the most retarded ways, meaning.. they shouldn't have broken when they did)

Tonight..

..is THE NIGHT!!
I think I might pee my pants in anticipation. Luckily I only have to wait till 8:45 to go and see it. See what? Are you kidding!? Oh you know....

NEW MOON!
AHH! It's going to be soooooo goood. I just KNOW it! (:

How'd I swindle an 8:45 showing, you ask? Well, people in Utah go CRAZY for cult films, and my friend's sister rented a theater. (: Why we get to see it early, I have no idea.. but I'm not complaining!

We'll chat about it tomorrow I'm sure..
Have fun trying to burn the day away until then!

Love,
Air

**edited for review: Holy, wow! Well done. Go and see it. I can't wait to take Andrew. I hated the book, and loved the movie. LOVE IT. Bravo Summit Ent & director Chris Weitz. Enough said.

Whirly Candleholder

I LOVE these! David Bromstad of Color Splash used them in a room once and filled them with draping green berries, and they were lovely! Check out the different examples...
I would like to buy a cluster.
PS. THEY'RE INEXPENSIVE!! (:

What a statement.

Unplug

{via AT}

...So true sometimes.
some need this more than others, but it's good advice no matter who you are.
PS. there are other devices to 'unplug' from in my opinion other than iPods.. think about it.

Have a good one! (:

Post-Challenge

{photo via Flickr}

Well folks.. we made it. We cheated once or twice for school/work and a date for some gelato that was 'going out of business' the next day.. but other than that.. we definitely lived off of food storage. Andrew was joking around and said we probably got a C (I thought more along the lines of a B) but with a standard "BYU curve" in place, that would have bumped us to at least a B+ or A- hahaha. But yes, it was nice to filter through our food I guess, but man oh man am I excited to buy goods and fresh produce... IN SOME SERIOUS BULK. Yes, I think we learned a thing or two.. like what should we really stock up on, and what will we miss when it's gone, and how the poo would we eat if the electricity was out? (yeah.. we're going to have to get some propane burners or something)... so thank you Bishop for the challenge, even if you WERE/ARE on a 2 week cruise in the Bahamas!! (TRUE STORY).. that sly man. So there you have it. So as a word to the wise... basically it's always a good idea to stock up when places like Bath and Body Works do the crazy soap sales (by 10 for a nickle).. and stuff like that. Haha.. because you never know when you might run out and when disaster might STRIKE!

HELLO COSTCO & SMITHS!
I can't wait to greet you tomorrow. I'm going to dress up because it's been so long since we've seen each other.. (:

Green & White

{via AT}

One of my favorite combos.
This kitchen is charming. Nothing like floor to ceiling cabinetry and a farmhouse sink.
Also, I find the vertical subway tiling quite fascinating..
Mmmm. Love it.

PS. I'm going kinda crazy waiting to know if I got into the program or not! BLLAHEEAAH.
...see.... crazy.

Jewelry Armoire

So I have quite the collection of jewelry. I go in spurts of not really wearing any, to wearing way to much.. and I love it that way. (: So I have an armoire from Walmart and the style is kinda bleh (unless I were to repaint it, which would be a pain with so much detail work!), so I was perusing for no good reason (not like I can afford to buy a new one right about now).. and found THIS!! How convenient! And we could use a quality stand up mirror!... check it...

Genius!
..someday. (:

Food Storage..

photo via Flickr

Or I guess you could call this.. "not going to the grocery store and eating what it was that you were PLANNING on storing." You following me? No? Okay, so here's what happened..
Our Bishop challenged our ward during our emergency preparedness month, to NOT go to the grocery store this week, and to live off of what we have.. as if there were a natural disaster at our doorstep THIS very instant! No eating out, no filling the fridge, and so on. The only thing we can do if we don't meet our needs, is call within the ward to depend on them. The good news.. we'll be able to make due!
The bad news, I do my weekly grocery shopping on MONDAY! So we were already thinning out in the fridge (hence the naked fridge example photo). At least nothing will go to waste I guess.. Also, Andrew is usually at school from 9am-9pm on any given day.. and he usually eats at least twice a day at the Cougar Eat.. so he's trying his best to pack what little we have. However, most things would need to be cooked, and he doesn't really have that option at school. So we're kind of in a pickle there. We DO however understand that if in fact there were REALLY an emergency, he wouldn't be in school, and could therefore eat at home during the day, so we're being a little flexible in that regard.
So now we are now at day 3 (or 4 if you count Sunday as day 1), and things are going just fine, minus the fact that what we were originally storing for a REAL emergency, is DEPLETING for a fake one! Now I know Bishop means well, and he's even shared that we will receive blessings for such a challenge, but now I'll have to spend more than twice as much on food NEXT week! Blah.. Let's just say at least I'm grateful that we have LOTS of toilet paper, and that my sister in law gave us a yam. We'll make it through, don't you fret.. but most of our canned goods are disappearing, and when the real emergency STRIKES.. well, hopefully we'll have it back to it's sad little amount (yes, it wasn't much to begin with).

Sigh, thanks Bishop.. seriously, I mean it. We're taking it seriously, and we hope it pays off in the end!

Color Board

So I've been working on my color board that I have to send in to apply for the LDS Business College Interior Design program.. and it's coming along well. It's so much fun, and I'm doing a sample of what I crave to do in real life! Cross your fingers, I just hope I get accepted!

Anyway, the room is almost finished and coming along really well.. especially with the addition of THIS SET to my faux room.

Oh, Mylanta! Can I please get this for myself someday?? Upholstery and all.

This is more than lovely. (:

PS. I'll be sure to post a photo of the finished project when all is said and done.. wish me luck!

Cheers. (:

"Alohomora!"

*Read with British accent. Thanks.*

Yep. I've caught onto the trend 80 years later.. LOVING the books, and loving Halloween!
Had to dress up for work, and didn't you know? Hermione's gone blonde! ..just go with it. (;

Never mind the retarded posing, faux fat tummy from the button up shirt, and ridiculous facial expressions.. clearly, I am NOT America's Next Top Model.

My boyfriend would have made a near PERFECT Harry.. but homework keeps him indoors this Holiday. Such is our life.. maybe we'll dress up together NEXT year. (:

Happy Halloween!

Pay-LESS

Hey guys, so I thought I'd let you in on a lil' treat.
Oprah, the generous woman that she is, has given EVERYONE the chance to purchase as much as they would like from Payless, with 50% off! Guys, that's huge, especially because Payless is ALREADY having a Breast Cancer awareness sale, so shoes are already cheap! Oh, heavens.. I took advantage yesterday.. and got 4 pairs of shoes (2 for me, 2 for my man, both cuties shown above were part of my purchase), (: 2 pairs of socks.. all for $45! BOOM BABY! You can score too. Just go here and print the coupon, OR just text Oprahshow to 242424 and the coupon will be sent to your phone. Now go get your shop on, because today's the last day, and they have some CUTE SHOES RIGHT NOW (that's the important part)! (:

Have fun, and I wanna know about what you roll out with! (:

Blackberry... Watch?

Yep. Apparently James Bond style convenience will be available for all mankind in February of next year. Now I'm not a blackberry nut, I'm not any kind of a cell phone nut for that matter, but I think this is pretty nifty. My dad might get a kick out of it (he's pretty obsessed with watches AND his blackberry). It'll alert you via vibrate & alerts and offer a desktop to view texts, receive calls via bluetooth (which I think 'talking to yourself' is a funny thing, but I imagine it's convenient), and whatnot while having your phone elsewhere. Crazy. Check it out..

Swell Dame

Am I the only one who would completely change EVERYTHING about their wedding if given the chance? (minus the man I married, of course!) It's not that my taste has 'changed', which in a sense I guess it has, it's just that at the time I didn't KNOW any better and now looking back I want it completely different! Don't get me wrong, I'm more than grateful for the beautiful wedding I was so blessed to have, I just know so much more about weddings and color schemes and what not now, more so than I did then. Oh, brides.. we're so silly. Not to mention CRAZY emotions were ripping through the place, making decisions for us. Anyway, as weird as this may sound to YOU, I would have done my hair differently (one of the MANY things).. and I would have liked to wear something in it that reflects my passion for the ocean.. ie, a starfish, sand dollar, seashells, what have you. Tastefully done of course. Andrew and I are really into blues, greens, creams, and white (lots of white).. and it would have represented US much better as a couple that day. Am I weird? ..don't answer that. Regardless, I would have made it look classy.

{via Etsy}

Colors, the dress, invitations, the bridal party getup.. what have you.. the whole lot.
What would you change?

**Girls who have yet to marry: A word to the wise... REALLY THINK IT THROUGH! There are lots of decisions and unless you genuinely don't care, choose wisely, you might regret it later! LIKE US! Haha.

Beckster

Really guys.. how cute is my nephew?!
Preciously, perfectly, melts your heart cute!

I love him so much, I wish I could be there everyday like the good ol' summer time. Instead, I'm in the land of Utah, where it's really cold, the leaves are falling, and what... there's snow?! Yep. It's not sticking around, but it's falling none the less.

Oh Utah, you make me miss my nephew. (:

Beckett, Auntie Cuh loves you!

Inspire

I was in need of some good old inspiration today.. not for any particular reason other than I simply wanted to be inspired.. and I found Apartment Therapy to deliver as usual. Can you tell I was in the mood for color and boldness? (:
..enjoy!

Home

Andrew and I really adore our little home (it will be a sad day when we leave this charming little place), but there are times that I crave owning a home so we can do lovely things to it.. like having a beautiful stairway and simplistic entertainment center like this.. just beautiful, light, airy, and cozy!

{via 2Modern}

Oh those will be such lovely days. I can't wait to learn how to make my home even more lovely! Wait, what?.. you ask? So I've come up with my short term goals, and I think you're going to like them. They've changed around a little bit, and I think we've found the final decision. There's a school in Salt Lake known as LDSBC and turns out they have a BOMB, first class Interior Design program! So I'm running with it! After a semester at UVU, I will transfer and have the time of my life! Yes, I'm sure it will be hard, but I look forward to squeezing every drop of information out of my schooling as I can.. I can't wait! I even get to "apply" to the program with a design board, oh my YES! I'm not scared, I'm STOKED! There are design boards flowing through my brain on a daily basis, haha. I get giddy thinking of the wonderful and challenging tasks that are ahead.. and I embrace them with both arms. Cheers, to the future.. and a charming home that I will someday create. (:

Happy weekend!

The Rest Is History..

2 years ago (almost to the day).. we adopted Birdie.
We knew then and there she had to be a part of our little family (oh man it was hard at first), and it has already proven to be one of the best decisions we've ever made! ..yes, we're THOSE kind of dog people. (:

Turdling,
We love you. We fell in love with you the minute we pulled you out and let you embrace us with your tiny tongue and puppy breath. We went to check other dogs after, to make sure.. we're sorry about that. Leaving you hanging was not very nice, but we had to know you were the one for us! We almost brought Toby home from the shelter, and oh MAN are we glad we didn't ..he had 'lil terror' written all over him. You at times have been a terror, but your sweetness has always blown our anger over REAL quick. We love your nose darts, and your burrowing under blankets trying to escape your own bed, and the cutest begging habits we've ever seen, and so much more.
Thanks for letting us take you home.

Love, Me & 'daddy' (that's what we call him when we pick him up from school, she knows who he is.. it's just precious). (:

PS.. warning friends, these photos might have you feeling like you need to run out and adopt one RIGHT NOW.. so just do it. Haha, kidding, but she was the cutest puppy!

Perfect, it never expires, and you never have to buy a new one!
And how precious are the little additional magnets that come with.. ie, arrival, departure, deadline.. etc. Plus, it's totally cute and my fridge could use it.
